An Odd, OUt of Place, Question ??

I am building my second Cobra replica, drove the first one for seven years.
It never failed to draw the question "Is It Real".

The other day my wife was at the grocery store with the Boxster, the box boy asked her... "Is it real,...is it an 'S' ?"

I think she reached over and gave him a gentle "dope slap" with the check book.

.. I think its a given that any cobra you see on the road is a replica, and any cobra you see at a show (behind armed guards) is real .. but the only porsche kit that I know of that has decent production numbers is a 356, not a boxster! how weird!

I was in one of the first GT 40 reproductions with a buddy of mine, we stoped at the gas station and a guy asked where to get a kit car like that. Needless to say this thing had a 140k price tag on it, so people are clueless.

First - I love those replicas. That is one vehicle, real or not, which just gets my blood pressure going.

Second, you let your wife drive it?

Third, there are no odd out of place questions - Rail26 excepting, of course.

denverpete,

It's her car, I need to ask to drive it.

Actually, I do most of the driving when we travel, but it is her car and she puts most of the local miles on it. In case you missed an earlier post, the license plate reads "GRRAMAZ" with a frame that says "GRANDMA'S -- NEED FOR SPEED", and it is Speed Yellow.
