Transport

I'm a newbie here, waiting on my first Porsche in 50 years. I contracted with Montway Auto Transport from the many agents available. They had a few good references from this group so I thought I'd try them and so far so good. The price of 1244.00 enclosed transport from Portland,OR to Milwaukee, WI was in the range of the the other companies. After requesting a quote I was inundated with calls and emails. It took a few days but they found a carrier and were there when they promised. Posting a few pics of the pickup. Now I wait until it gets here. I will let you know how the drop off went. I am really getting excited now. My only regret is why did I wait so long.

Congrats! Nice looking S.

The inundating emails and calls will continue for quite some time, even after telling them you found a carrier. Be patient, eventually they give up.

Congrats! Be prepared though - with a Speed Yellow Boxster S, you are going to have people telling you all the time how much they love your car. (ask me how I know!) LOL

I don't think telling people how much I love my car will be a problem. Problem will be shutting me up. Here's a pic of a 1964 356c just like the one I had back in 1965. Loved that car dearly also. My actual pictures are all on slides (remember film?). One day I will get them digitized.

When you take delivery look it over carefully. Mark down and note any damage that may have been caused in route. The sheet should have notations for defects when picked up.

Make sure they leave you a copy of the sheet.

I shipped a car once and they damaged the roof and hood and tried to tell me it was that way. No markings or notes on sheet for previous damage And then they told me I could not keep the sheet! Wrong!

I was a project car so it was not a big deal. We fought a while, but at least I had the car and was going to have to restore the body anyway. Maybe that is why the price was cheap!!!

Just inspect carefully. Once the driver leaves....it is all on you.

Thanks, will do. I'm also going to take a lot of pictures, including the driver.

If the car shows up wet (like it was just run through a car wash) as a "service", look over the car REALLY well. Drops of water hide damage really well and I've gotten burned by a transporter this way. As a previous poster stated, once the guy leaves, it's all on you at that point.

My father always suggests me to take professional services for transporting expensive vehicle, he also suggests me to look for reference and ensure that the services are good. As we spend lots of money to get the desired vehicle and it is very important to make research before hiring any transporting services.
