Naught window micro switch or door lock

Hi Chaps
After the big UK freeze my drivers side window has now decided to rise to the fully up position as soon as I let the exterior door handle go! I have to now then get in the car lower the window then close the door. Im worried every time my lovely wife drives the car because its not something she will always remember to do lol. Luckily enough she prefers our VW Passat.

Iv had my mechanic look at it and he says the micro switches look ok so he thinks its the door lock. They are £170(ish) brand new but Im aggrieved to spend that incase its not so I have bought a tested/guaranteed one from a Porsche breakers near me for £30.

Seemingly its a common fault??

Its getting fitted this evening so Ill let you know.

I was whinging to my mechanic about how hard it is to get in the car when its frozen due to the windows freezing to the seals, he recons spraying the seals weekly with a clear silicone spray during winter will stop it happening, has anyone else tried this?

Peter
