97 2.5 won't crank over
I have a 1997 2.5 Boxster and the car won't start as of today. its been sitting for about 3 days and all the sudden decided it doesn't want to start not ever crank over. I turn the key and nothing at all happens. I really need advice on how to fix as I dont want to spend big bucks going to porsche. Could it be a starter relay or something else?

Tiptronic and everything works perfectly except when I try and crank it over. Not fun when it’s your only car at the moment.

Small sidetrack: I had a friend die may years ago because the clutch switch preventing start in gear was bypassed. That's a fine option for troubleshooting but that's about as far as anyone should take it. I don't even have the switch bypassed in my Spec Miata race car.

Have you tried Jump starting?
Battery Voltage? (Healthy battery around 13V) These batteries can work like nothing is wrong then nothing without warning |
Yes did try jumpstarting it to no prevail and had the batter read 12.4v which seems fine. Really stuck

Hit the starter. What does the tach needle do? Bounce even a bit or never move?

Could be the switch that allows the starter to get the required electric power when you have the lever on P or N..?
|
Have you checked under the seat for moisture?

I'm going to vote ignition switch and lock assembly. There were garbage when they built these cars. Same thing happen to our 01 and 02 units. Installed the new updated assembly and all electrical isms went away. Good luck with it.
