Audio Upgrades

Thinking of upgrading my audio in an a 00 Boxster S with the stock Hi-Fi option. I'm hooked up with Rod Birch at car audio innovations. Interested in hearing from members who have done a similiar upgrade.

Is it worth 2K? Seems like the factory system is weak.

Call and speak to Rick Reus from Reus Systems. www.reusaudio.com. You CAN NOT get any better sound out of a Boxster.

IMHO

The Beckers system stinks, pure and simple.

Being a ragtop, you do have some inherent limitations in getting great sound in a Boxster with all the competing noise coming from the car and road.

Re: 2k, that is totally subjective. I would not spend that but that is me.

You CAN get much better sound by junking the Becker, replacing with a mid cost Alpine unit and getting some speakers behind your ears.

That would not cost 2K.

Having said all that, I am sure the sky is the limit, all you need is money.

I added PNP rear speakers to my 00. It made a substantial improvement for around $200. It's not audiophile quality, but it will hold me for a while. I'll probably upgrade the other speakers as time and money permits. $2000 is more than I would want to spend, but everyone is different.
