Wet Traction

I've read some of you folks postings about spin outs and traction loss especially in the wet. It happened to me today. Actually, I didn't spin out it just got squirrely and the PASM kicked in a sorted things out straight away before I even reacted.

It was raining and I was commuting to work and turned into the highway on ramp. It was morning traffic and I wasn't going that fast. Turn in was a bit sharp though I think. I've taken that turn as fast if not faster in my SUV while it was raining.

It just seemed odd and disproportionate to the speed and rain.

I experienced some real nerve wracking hydroplaning last week while doing some interstate driving. Heavy rain + 70mph + Michelin PS2 on the wear bars = not a good combination, I could feel the back end “floating” on the over passes, scary though I just attributed it to my worn tires… I seem to have acceptable amounts of grip in similar weather conditions on local streets (sub 60mph speeds).
