Cruise Control has me stumped

2003 Boxster S (cruise in the dash only)

OK....so I install the harness from Dwight. I already had a shop turn on the cruise. After the install the green dash light now activates but no cruise action. So I take it all apart again and verify everything..I even replaced the column switch. All looks well but again no cruise. 2 things.....1. the shop that activated the cruise was a little unsure and I actually got Loren from renntech to give me the instructions for them. So that could be an issue. 2. I actually got the car to hold 5 mph up and down a hill (without pressing the gas) even though cruise needs to be 25 mph to work.

Please any thoughts?

Thanks
Bob

I have a 2000, and I haven't done this yet, but I have pdwight's harness. I noticed his instructions differed slightly from what's on Pelican Parts. I haven't followed up yet. Perhaps have a look there and see if anything is different.

Check that you have the clutch switch that disables the cruise control when the clutch is depressed. If it is installed, it mat be faulty. Its a red switch that sits directly above the clutch pedal.

The switches are not very expensive, I would just replace it. No way I know of it to test it, unless it has an obvious failure like the plunger being loose. It's not uncommon for them to fail, when my cruise control stopped working it was the first thing I replaced, and it fixed the issue.
