If you just need to do the inner joint, you can do it with the axles in the car. Replace both inner and outer boots while you're in there. Not a hard job but dirty.

Why don't you ask Woody for a low mileage half shaft? You will be back on the road in no time, and these shafts are pretty tough and easy to replace...
