Is it possible to start the car with the plastic key?

Yes, but it won't unlock the glove compartment and the interior trunk openers are disabled. Obviously, there are no trunk opening buttons on the key.

Doesnt the original keys have an immobilizer ?
So the ignition or computer has to read the code of the key to be able to start?

What Im thinking is to have the dealer reprogram my keys with a new code , so the plastic key wont work.

Also will the plastic key unlock the steering wheel?

The 987 has an electronic ignition lock and an electromechanical steering column lock for increased anti-theft protection. I don't know if it's possible to reprogram the key without modifying the electronic ignition but I'm guessing you'd need to replace the lock and get new keys issued to you.

The plastic key performs all functions necessary to drive the vehicle. Not to mention turning your wheels to lock all the time puts a strain on the steering components, increases the wear on your front tires and would give you an annoying OBC message every time you went to start it up.
