SD987 Becomes SD987 S (the feel good story of the year)

This late in the year, an SD987 car switcheroo is long overdue and I pulled the trigger this past week. I was planning on waiting to check out the ’07 987S with the 3.4 but was doing some web-surfing at work when lo, I was kicked in the ass by love…it was the most beautiful Boxster I’d ever seen, a Carrara White ‘06 987S..

She was the only color I wanted (because Bmussatti is my idol); had most of the options I was going to special-order or try to find in inventory; and had some “special touches”, which made it very unique, as you’ll see. To finish it off, after running the numbers…she was also a great deal, financially.

The car was special-ordered with the following options:

19 inch Carrera S wheels with PS2s
PASM
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Bi-Xenon Headlamps
Windstop

Preferred Package for 06'
Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
Self-dim Mirrors and Rain Sensor
Bose Sound System
Heated Seats
Floor Mats in Interior Color

And blinged with the full-on Imperial Stormtrooper design package, including:

Full Two-tone leather
Roll bar Painted Exterior Color
Rear Center Console in Exterior Color
Dash trim in Exterior Color
Door Opener trim in Exterior Color
Headlamp washers in Exterior Color
Chrome Exhaust Pipe
...And wait for it…a two-tone Boxster S badge, inspired by our own Perfectlap.

Clearly, someone with an artistic flare put some thought into speccing the car to just shy of a 70K sticker; polishing this cherished gem to be held on to for many years…

Which turned out to be only two months and 763 miles (May in-service date).

The sales rep said that the previous owner found he disliked shifting in the OC so much that he immediately traded it in for an E55 AMG. So if any of you know the guy who did this, please thank him for me and pass on my condolences as he took more than a 15K hit on this one (approximately $20 / mile). The bad news is: I’m back in the “break-in” period.

For those curious about the price I paid, it was 56K, and a surprisingly generous valuation was tendered on my 987 base trade-in.

The pics, beautiful as they are, do not do the car justice. I think I’ve received more compliments in four days of ownership then I did in over a year of owning my blue one. I’ve caused six traffic jams so far, including a ten mile back-up to the I5/805 merge; small children, when crossing the street, stop in the middle to stare; and numerous women have cast off their brassieres to embrace their bare bosoms against the sheet metal and generous expanses of two-tone leather.

I'm really not into white sports cars - but that is ONE NICE RIDE! I love the two tone interior!

Nice Job!

SD987,

It took me like twenty minutes to view your pictures because the internet here at the office is so freakin' slow! It was worth it! That puppy is really sweet!

I'm feeling very jealous right about now!

white Porsches make me think of the old RS 911's with the livery graphics.
Or like on the GT3 RS more recently
White is a very classic Porsche color. Saw a white CaymanS on display in the Mall with metropol blue interior. Made me drool like the time I saw a white Testarossa in Miami. Very bold for such a neutral color. I think it makes more of statement than red or black for sure.

If I had a white P-car across the lower doors I would add ---987S---
in red, or black, or dark grey, or light blue, or...
I think it would magnify the color.

not so hard to imagine this being a white 987s from this angle
BBS wheels are so cool..
(sorry SD i nicked your photo to compare)

p.s.
yes storm trooper for sure. If you can get your hands on some Dura Gloss Aqua Wax fro NAPA or Carquest give it a shot to go over your preferred monthly paste wax (like Rejex as someone noted). Its one of the better spray on waxes I've seen for light colors like silver and white. INstant punch in spray bottle, And with white you'll be cleaning often
A silver hood crest might look nice on white too.

While I don't agree with all of the custom stuff, naturally--everyone's different on that--I gotta say I really like the white. Congrats man! That sounds like it was a no-brainer for ya!

You'd hide *him*. It looks like he's smacked himself in the head a few times with those nunchucks and tonfas on the wall.

Oh yeah... great car, SD!!
