Just noticed those Super Car's snowflake wheels above... [Ctrl+Alt+Unsee]

It looks nice but I would rather have a Ruf or Raby engined Boxster or Cayman with all the power and go fast goods for the money. Now, if I was an auto body shop and got my hands on a totaled 997 with a perfect body but bad mechanicals due to flooding or something, and a totaled 986 that was running with a straight chassis and horrible panels, then it would be worth a go.

I recall seeing kits to turn other cars into a 986. Our lines are fine and still relevant.

I'm not sure how much this guy spent, but it does show that the 986 shape still holds up.

IMO the only real aesthetic flaw on the whole car is side intake. The boxster have very nice classic lines, the lights look good if you ask me. I love the central exhaust. Interior looks great and is made even better with high quality materials found on the option sheet. My only complaint is the somewhat awkward and under sized intake.

Agreed. And the 986 design will prove to be timeless and well proportioned, IMO.

Has to be one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen. Aren't those taillights off of a Volkswagen Thing?

I think the 986/987 boxster might become a classic not so much because of the looks but because of it's simplicity and rawness. It really is an easy car to work on and one of the last Porsche's to be largely controlled by the driver. Sure some came with PSM or worthless Traction Control but the car mostly relied on what imputes you gave it.

looks actually pretty neat...but why pretend, especially for that amount of money?
As I always say...the 986 is the most versatile Porsche ever build...and that is what it deserves to stay...a Boxster, a Spyder and a Cayman...all at once and it is not even pretending
...but it will never be a 911 (although it was PRETTY close to the 996)
