New water pump pulley has play

I spent a bundle at the local indy yesterday. They are not cheap! New coolant, 4 wheel alignment and a new CV boot plus an expected water pump replacement (yes plastic impeller). They say that the new (6k miles) water pump has play in the shaft. I'm taking the car on a trip in a month so don't want to take chances. I usually do most of my own wrenching but time is tight. I guess the PO should have spent more than $125 on the pump. You get what you pay for.
