It's not really about the money as much as about not having it break down all the time. Such a great car to drive obviously it's no fun if it's in the shop.

I'll stick with the car see if I can get these issues resolved

Trust me, the breakdowns will be fewer and fewer and more and more infrequent if you take care of it.

My car is turning out to be a disaster - need words of encouragement

I've spent a fair bit of money on my car too. I bought it last November and immediately put it into storage (as I live in the Great White North). Since getting the car back at the beginning of April, I have done:

- New roof
- New full interior carpet
- Three spoke steering wheel
- New stereo
- New heater core
- New headlamps
- New shift knob
- New air filter
- New cabin filter
- Upgraded roof transmissions
- New coolant recovery tank cap
- New spark plugs and tubes

I'm about to do:

- Two new front tires
- Rear upper control arms
- New A/C control unit LCD
- Both window regulators
- Oil change
- Coolant flush
- Rear wheel bearings

But you know what? I love it. I actually enjoy fixing things on it. No regrets, and no thoughts of selling it. I've owned 21 cars (I had a 914 too), and this is my favourite by far.
