Brake booster

Hello everyone, recently when pressing my brakes after taking my foot off the brake, the brake Feels feels as if it's stuck and then slowly releases within 3 to 5 seconds after removing my foot. I've done a little bit of research and found out that it could be the brake booster. The brakes do feel engaged after I've removed my foot and sometimes I have to take my right foot and manually pull op on the brake pedal to release the brakes.

My question is is there anything else I can inspect before replacing this and if it is the brake booster how long could I safely drive with this issue before it completely fails?

Also does anyone have a price their mechanic has charged them to replace the brake booster?

Yes, use an illuminated bore scope to inspect the inside of the booster, looking for accumulated water and/corrosion. If you find either, you need a new booster.
