looks like a green MR2, terrible.

That's not the color I saw. I thought Rolex green was an option not a customer supplied color matching deal. The color I saw was dark dark green almost black with a gold shimmery flake that shifted color in the sun light.

Lemme see, my high school TR4 was about that color, more or less. Interior color was "rusted to match exterior", if I recall. Not an unpleasant shade of green, but it sure wouldn't be my 1st choice on a car like a Boxster.
Also, I have this hunch that if I ran down to my local P-dealer, ordered up a custom extravaganza like this, then casually sauntered in to drop the bomb that I really didn't want it after all, changed my mind you know - somehow methinks I'd get stuck paying for it anyway. But some people pull it off...
I say take it to the track. It's got good brakes!

I quite like the color, but it would have looked better with sand rather than cocoa

I've thought about someday getting a brand new Boxster. All I want is a base 987 with S 18" rims and seat heaters

If you are referring to the top color, Porsche does not offer a sand colored top. Just black, metropol blue, stone grey and cocoa.

Sand would be a nice chioce if they had it. Now, keeping it clean would be another issue!!

So I stopped by and looked at it today. The paint's not very pretty up close--I think he should've gone metallic.

I took these with proper white balance settings and didn't touch them at all other than to resize them. Not much different from the other pictures, but I have two interior shots showing the door handle bezels in green, the gauges in yellow and the Thick Sport Steering Wheel.

Sorry for the weak photography--they unfortunately wouldn't unlock it so I could get good shots of the interior.

Nice job Eslai !

Yeah, that paint doesn't look good now, and I don't think it's going to age/get dirty well either. Pretty much of a ************************ abomination, all around.

I saw that this one also made the board at Rennteam and PPBB today. I'm assuming that the new owner isn't aware that his pride and joy is providing amusement to other Boxster owners the world over. (If someone posts a "Here's pics of my new green Boxster" thread, we may have to do some furious backpedaling).

BTW, I enjoyed your Solstice comment on Farago's site.

Porsche only offers customized exterior paint; both standard and metallic ($4,315), and interior leather ($3,845). They don't offer a customized top selection, ...at least not in the order guide.

Not to bag on anyone's preference in colors but the only sports car they should make in white is the Lotus Esprit.

I'm not a fan of white cars in general.

Haha you saw that comment eh? Seriously, the Solstice has buck teeth, I don't know why none of the journalists out there ever mention that!

The one thing I can say about the Rolex boxster is that I do think the yellow calipers match pretty well. Just would've chosen a different green--this one isn't quite forest, and it's got a weird washed-out overtone to it. With the paint having absolutely no depth, it reminds me of like... well, a TJ paint job, frankly.

We've come full circle...

The $82,000 boxster S is now available for sale at Pioneer...for $55,900

A damn good price considering the kit, if you can live with the color.

That's:

$26,000 in depreciation in less than one year..

$3,000 a month

$5.65 a mile

And there's no way they will sell it for $55,900. I bet if they sell it, it goes for less than 50k, possibly as low as 45k. I SURE hope they got some kind of non-refundable deposit on that thing - wow.

I think the car will sell, just not quickly. It is a very nice car. It will take a unique buyer...who really likes the color green. Heck, we have a few Forum members here who are very passionate about green.

Worse case, a potential buyer can get a few more thousand off, and use that for a good paint job.

Wow.... I'm a bit speechless. I just got finished reading this thread and I must say that this really sucks for the dealership.

1st. I love green, but that green is pretty horrible. Like someone earlier said, it has no depth.

2nd. The options are such a weird combo, that I'd be surprised if anyone bought it.

3rd. That poor dealership. I wonder if we'll ever find out who ordered that car.
