Convertible Red Dash warning light

When I raise my top and lock it in place, the red warning light remains illuminated on the dash. If I lower the top about 10 to 12 inches then raise it and lock it in position, the light extinguishes. Any guesses as to where the sensor that controls the light is located or why it continues to do this?

Could be one of the microswitches around the tonneau/clamshell. I'd also suggest cleaning the microswitch in the roof header (where the latch goes in) as well.

There have been a few of threads in this regard. Do a search on top microswitch and you should come across a number of issues/fixes.

Also, check to make sure the clamshell is closing completely so all contacts are being made.

Do you have a 1 Touch auto open/close roof chip installed? If you do mine was doing this from time to time too and it was just the chip causing it and no harm was actually being done.
