It is interesting how defensive this information has made some of you. It is only data. Some of you ascribe ulterior motives to the company, some simply trash the data as wrong or irrelevent.
It may be all that. However, as the moderator who slogs through all the defect compaints on this forum, I can tell you that from a reliability standpoint, the boys in Germany have a long way to go. As an example, the way they have failed to fix the RMS design defect is simply criminal in my opinion. For the price of these cars, I would expect better from them. Let the defect rate reflect what we pay for these cars. That would make me a happier Porsche owner. |

Perhaps you need to admit to yourself that you do not belong in Porsche land, (I am not judging, I believe everyone belongs there:) ), but based on your comments you seem so unhappy with Porsche. Why continue stressing yourself. The rants are enjoyable the whining is not! |

It doesn't make me the least defensive. In fact, I think it points out what I've felt for some time; namely that Porsche is now a Corporation which has grown away from the ideals and tutelage of Ferdy Porsche and now cares much more about the closing price of their outstanding shares than they do about quality or their customers. It's as if they can save a buck by slipshod work or design, and their past reputation is strong enough to sucker people to buy it, which they do in droves. A lot of those objecting to this thread are living in denial of these things. Porsche as a company ain't what it used to be, and Porsche as a car ain't what it used to be, period! But, they don't care because they're selling more Cars than ever, design flaws and all... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |

Well, given that I am a Porsche used car dealer and have driven or owned most current models, clearly, I "belong" in Porsche land. And posting data about Porsche quality is hardly whinning, it is simply acknowleding reality, Do I have your permission to stay in Porsche land? Porsche quality doesn't need any "cheap shots" to make folks question it. The engineers and bean coutners at Porsche have done that all by itself. If you take data and feedback about the car you drive personally, that MAY say something about you, not me. Don't shoot the messenger my friend. I have been through more Porsches than perhaps anyone on this board, so I know a bit about their fabled "quality" and how much is costs to own one of these bad boys. As moderator and co-owner of the Board, I have to review every post. I can tell you that the greatest number of posts are about actual problems with the car or the fear of problems. Happily, the other posts are about the joy of driving the car, which keeps us all coming back. Imagine if it were reliable too? Ah, to sleep, perchance to dream. |

Basically, I would like to send the entire Porsche top management team to TQM school.
You know, the one that Toyota went to many years ago. |
...or, we could send the folks at Toyota to lust and desire training.
