what are your thoughts & experiences wiht Racing stripes, graphics & Livery colors
I'm new here so "Hello".
I'm in the market for a boxster & my budget will probably get me a 2003 or earlier boxster, preferably an s. Lets just say for example I've found on in yellow but I don't really like the yellow, otherwise it would be a great purchase. I keep thinking the yellow may be not up my alley on its own but with some graphics I could really like it. However I start thinking that driving around in what looks like a race car might get pretty tiring after a while. Also could attract a little unwanted attention from police, kids in imports wanting to race you at every stoplight or just the random jackwagon. Have any of you lived with a car that has graphics on it & if so were these concerns valid? If you haven't had one would you ever? Why?
For the sake of discussion i'll add a couple pics of cars (not mine) that I think are fantastic, though I would probably go a bit more subdued (as in not going the whole gumball & sponsor route) I was thinking twin stripes down the hood & trunk & the rocker panel "PORSCHE" stripe on both sides

Do what feels right. Screw what others think.
BTW, just driving this car means you'll attract unwanted attention and have every kid in an import or jackwagon a-hole wanting to race you.

I have a blue boxster s, I might dig those Sonoco stickers, but I'll offer some advice from my racing days, I'll put any sticker on my car that you are willing to pay for plus a few extra bucks to bring it to the track so people will see it.

I agree with Particlewave. I have more knuckleheads tailgating and generally driving aggressively around me in my "03 than i ever expected. Drive what makes you happy. Except the Lowenbrau car. Stay away from that one.

Judge for yourself. All I'm saying is this is an old pic taken from my D:/CoolCars/ folder

Do whatever you want. It's your car. It also depends on where you live. Around here, no one really pays attention to a Boxster. I don't have people wanting to race me everywhere I go. I do get nice thumbs ups and smiles from kids though when I drop my kid off at school.

Do it!
Here's the transformation on one of my cars from idea to (almost) completion (I still need to figure out my rocker stripe). I wanted the black/orange GT3RS look along with the Gulf livery. Thanks to particlewave (picture 3) for the photoshop skills which got me motivated to move the project forward.
I drive this car a bunch on the street, and it's also my DE car - it see's a lot of both street and track time. I get lots of thumbs-up when I'm driving it on the street. The Mustang/Camaro/Challenger/Ricer crowd will give me an occasional try, but they are easy enough to ignore. The cops don't even look twice.
It's your car - do what you want. I have fun with it.

I've been trying to figure out what works for a silver 986 for a while. I know I love the stripes, just can't figure out what will work.

Presently have a Orange lightning bolt across my Lapis blue but I'm thinking soon to go with these 911 Stripes in Orange and remove the sides. I think these look good on Blue,Black, Silver cars. Who cares what others think.

Done right they can look good but can quickly become naff if overdone. It's a fine balance with graphics.

They did a few historic livery wraps for the 981 launch. While I'm normally partial to Martini colors, the Gulf one looked really good. (sorry, some of these images are a little too large)
And here's the 911R on the GT4. I like it, but not sure if would work with a ragtop.
