Headlight Problem

All my lights are working front and back accept the right hand side low beam when it's in the position provided in the pic above.

You've verified the bulb is good?
If so, could be the switch itself.

That's the parking light position, not the low beams. Your small parking light has probably burned out.

A common misconception is that the position shown runs the low beams, but this is incorrect. There are seperate tiny bulbs for that.

It's the small hole on the left side of the reflector in this picture.

Yes I have checked the bulbs.

Where are these small bulbs you speak of located exactly?

ps what's the difference between low beams and parking lights?

parking lights are low setting and low beams are the ones you use when driving in the dark?

Cheers!!

Yes, low beams are for night driving and parking lights are for...parking.
If you leave your parking lights on when you shut the car off, you are more visible. Flipping the turn signal stalk in either direction lights only that side of the car. For instance, if you park on the right side of the road and flip your turn lever to the left signal position, all of the road side (left side of car) lights will remain on.

See above edited post for bulb location.

Is this your first car? I only ask because the knowing the difference between parking lights and dipped beams is a really basic thing. Pretty much all cars have parking lights, dipped beams and high beams, and the differences should have been explained in your driving test!

That's not me having a go by the way - just a bit curious I've only known one other person to have a Boxster as their first car. That didn't turn out well either, driving it after he blew his head gasket as he didn't know what it was that went wrong and kept on driving.

I think it's easier to confuse in the 986 headlamp unit because the parking light bulb location is essentially right in the same area where the low beam is in that round portion. If it was located where the fog light was instead, it would be more easily distinguished. In other cars, its separate location is more evident. But yes, they should've been able to figure out that it wasn't supposed to act as a low beam.
