I travel via plane M-F so my airport taxi is a 98 Explorer;
Having lived in Chicago for some 24 years, I would not want the salt and slush on my car during the winter; is pretty hard to wash at the end of the day/week/month when the chill factor is unBEARable! How much would that bug you? I couldn't deal with that at all |
Well, I understand its tough to wash in the winter but I did it all year. I just went and sprayed it off at the quarter wash. Dont get me wrong it was cold but my car was clean all winter. Like I said my cars time is limited with me but I still take care of it. The Boxster at his lot is perfect with low miles, you have to understand his rep is nationwide and the cars are perfect.

There is no other ride ;)

My Boxster is only for nice summer days, never been in the rain. The other ride is a 2005 Touareg. That doesn't really help u though since it is just a tad more than $5K.
I, of course, put 20" wheels on the Treg, so now both my cars suck in the snow and I live in Minnesota. Guess it's time for another car. :cheers: |
1997 MB S500 is my daily driver....Love the car, so powerful, smooth, big...Feels like im in a tank.
|
My daily driver is a '91 Jeep Cherokee with 175k+ on the clock (most of those miles in the past 5 years). Going to barns and various places that are often unpaved means the Box is really not suitable as my DD. I still put 8-10k/yr on her though.

I drive a BMW 5 series w/winter tires.

When the snow gets too deep I have an Escape, but about 90% of the time the Boxster is fine in snow...I do use Blizzak's. Having driven a Mustang in Colorado winters the Box is great. Most of the time the Mustang was undrivable in even 1" deep snow if it is slick and cold. The car wouldn't turn. One day I had to drive it backwards home from a gas station because I could not get it up a small incline. The Boxster's balance and clutch sensitivity make it an OK winter car (not great). Good judgement on road conditions still prevails! But I couldn't park the Boxster for the whole winter!

Our other baby on the Blue Ridge Parkway two weeks ago. :dance:

Every time I see a 928 I visualize Tom Cruise coining the phrase, "Porsche, there is No substittute!" in Risky Business. Sweet ride!

2005 audi a4 quattro.(amazing in winter,i live in canada where winter is a real winter)
2005 bmw 320i (wifes car)not too impressive.looking at an x5 for her 1999 boxster (lives in my garage.only drive it evenings and weekends.as i really dont have time to drive it.i work 65 hours a week. 2006 lamborghini galargo(when im sleeping,i only drive it in my dreams)maybe one day! |
Since my Boxster is my fun, around town car and my track car, I have another for freeway driving and the 'family substitute' car, in case my wife has her car and I have to tote our daughter around, or guests from out of town, or clients, etc.
http://www.infiniti-driver.com/image.../m45%20042.jpg That's not mine shown in the pic, but mine's just like it except for the aero kit, and it's not my house. |
my other ride is a skateboard

Winter Car, Summer Car, Project Car... plus some other cars in the background, of which I have no digital photos. Oh yeah and one Explorer Limited for transporting the dogs.
God, I love the 928. I've wanted one since I was a kid. Never pulled the trigger though. An old friend has a black/black 928 S-4. One time a bunch of us had like a scavenger hunt for a huge dinner party. We split up into teams and picked a dinner item out of a hat. Then we had to go to the place that was famous for that item and bring it back. My buddy and I drove to Maine to retrieve the lobsters. We took the S-4. What a great road car. Two other guys had to go to Idaho for potatos. Talk about lousy luck..flying back from Idaho with 50 lbs of friggin' potatos. |
