Battery and Radio Question...

For the past several years I got static whenever I turned on AM radio stations; some came through but for the most part it was not pretty.

Last week I have a dead battery; went to Autozone and replaced my 4 year old Duralast with a new Duralast AGL.

Static is gone in the AM band ????? What might the explanation be ?

If all you replace was your battery, you had/have a ground issue. I'd monitor to see if static comes back. Lack of AM is usually caused by a bad ground at the antenna amplifier located in the passenger side A pillar.

Search a bit and you'll see a DYI on getting to the amp and cleaning the connection.

That would be cool if the fix is that easy. My AM is almost worthless on all but the strongest stations. And then the static is still bad.

Several years ago I did the antenna amplifier ground fix and it seemed to Have worked.
Forgot when the static returned, but it went away when the new battery was installed.

I was curious whether anyone else experienced this happening
