If the key is the original key and if your car has the keyless entry installed try this simple trick. I'm going to assume you have a healthy battery in the key. Unlock the car manually and get in, place the key into the ignition and turn to the ON position but do NOT engage the starter. Hold the button down on the key for aprox. 5-7 seconds. Release the button and turn the ignition off. Now hit the button and see if the door locks work. This scenario recently worked for me when my key stopped activating the keyless entry . Good luck .
