Wow thats one hell of a run on sentence, and the end there i have no idea really what you were trying to say.

17*C is quite warm, where 17*F is hella cold and you wouldn't be driving the car. 17*C is about 63*F which is fine to lower the roof. I think the limit for lowering it to not crack the plastic is around 40*F or 5*C. It all has to do with how plyable the plastic is. If its cold out the window is stiff and brittle and could crack.
