Alternator woes

Hey all, I rarely post, but I visit often. I'm hoping I can get some insight on installing my alternator. I've finally fit it in and I installed the lower bolt loosely, but I can't for the life of me get the pulley bolt in and sitting in its spot. It just sits off a bit. Any tips would be appreciated; I've also tried installing the pulley bolt in first and having it sit properly, but then the lower right bolt won't go in! It doesn't line up. 2003 boxster s by the way. Thanks

I'll look at mine tomorrow. It has to fit back in just right, and there's a special procedure to putting that bottom bolt on with a spacer that will get pulled into place as its tightened. Loaned out my 101 book but my Bently manual has that procedure too. Not easy fit but it does fit.

Garage
It helps to put a little lube on the mounting bracket where the alternator attaches. Use a large Philips Screw Driver to align and pry into place.

Great! While the belt is off, check the WP for any slack or play. Check pulleys and tensioner too. Install an under drive pulley.
