Question New Boxster: Soft Top/ Roof Overlap Problem - Please Help

Hi guys, I just bought a 2008 Boxster, and I noticed an issue with the soft top when it is closed. It looks like the soft top is not closing right, although it still appears to be water-proof.

Here is what it looks like when my top closes, notice how there is some overlap on the seam.

If I use my finger to guide the soft-top as it closes, I can get a more neat looking seam, shown here. I imagine this is what it is supposed to look like.

So my questions are:

1. Is there a problem with my roof?
2. What is the problem?
3. Any idea how hard this will be to fix?

I have this exact same issue on the passenger side of my '04. I took it to the local soft top experts, and they could not repair it. They said the only option was a complete new top.

Common, just use your finger to push it in while it's closing.

Easy.

In my case, the small velcro strip has come loose from the seam of the top fabric. To fix it they said they would need to remove the whole top. The labor estimate was quite high.
