Free Build Sheet from Vin#
Over the weekend I found a series of posts on rennlist that provides the ability to view the original purchase price and build sheet using your VIN#. I thought I would repost it here because maybe others on the forum who have bought their Boxsters used don't have the original sticker info.
Steps to get this: Hit control + link below & select copy link https://admin.porschedealer.com/repo...AC29P38LA82824 Paste it into browser address and replace the vin# with your own Now you can see &/or print the build info for your records. Hope this is useful for some of you! p.s. FYI, the VIN above is unfortunately not mine.... |
404 not found, doesn't work I'm afraid.

I tried it and just got "This vehicle is not available". Maybe it does not work for older cars?
|
Works for my 01 box.
what is your vin? or pm me and we can figure it out. |
Wpocb29872u662584.
Thanks. |

Unfortunately, it did not work for my '99. I checked my VIN a few times, my guess is that older cars are not in the system.

Failed on a '01S whose VIN I owned. Maybe the car has to be in inventory at a dealer?
|
Interesting. Will it work for non-US vehicles? VIN: <removed>
|
My 2000 is not available.

I don't know how far back it goes, but for sure it includes at least back to 1999 & probably further. |

Doesn't work for my '03 S that was bought at a Houston dealership.
|
All I get is the vehicle is not available. 01 S
|
Thank you, worked on my 2002 S.

Keep trying
Took me about half a dozen tries before it finally went through. I got the "car not available" several times. Don't forget to change the letter "O" to the number "0" or vice versa. If it's the third character in your vin, then it's the number "0". Good luck, but I was disappointed that my '03 was not that well equipped - just a few options with a price of $50,055. One thing I did find interesting is my car had option XAB - Speedster Rear Color of Car. I always thought the PO replaced the "Boxster" logo with "Speedster" but it now looks like it came from the factory that way. See my photo to the left. Odd.
Edit: Further research shows that XAB is the factory humps. So the PO probably did change the lettering from Boxster to Speedster. |
For everyone the link is not working for, there are multiple Porsche VIN decoders around online, and many are fairly accurate (RennTech, Suncoast, etc). I just remembered that back in 2010 I emailed Sunset Imports my VIN and they provided me with all of the same information as these Build Sheets, minus the list price and official looking Porsche logo.
I am not sure if they still offer that as a free service, but if the link isn't working for you, and you would like to find your full list of build options, it could be another avenue worth trying. That's not to say an official build sheet isn't nice, but if it is not working, there are other options. |
Tried it with mipstein's link, no go for me
|
Worked for my 2003 S in Canada.

The "VIN Decoders" are very different that getting a build sheet. A normal VIN decoder will just give you basic vehicle info and not have the options listed.
IIRC Rennlist and/or Suncoast have a paid service that will give you the options Yo can also probably go to a Porsche dealer and they should be able to print you out a build sheet that includes the options costs as well |
I contacted the guy at the parts counter at Inskip here in Warwick Ri and he got back to me within a week with the info.
|
Worked on my 2001
|
'97 - Not available for me. I think it is probably too rare.
|
Worked for my 2002.

You will never have the letter O or the letter I in any VIN, anywhere. Those are ALWAYS ZERO and ONE. It can be confusing if it's in all caps as it usually is. |
can anyone get this to work? or do you see a problem as to why it is not working for me? I can get to some of the others, but mine keeps giving unavailable :(

It works for my 03 S on the first try. It lists the original MSRP Window Sticker price. When I read the original post to this thread and saw price paid I was hoping it would say what the dealer paid for the car, ha ha! Thanks for posting this link!
|
No Bueno, I typed it in and my vehicle is not available. It appears to be a build year issue? (97) Maybe Porsche wants to sell more of those COA sheets at +/-$100.00 a pop. But they are suitable for framing.

Doesn't work for my 00 S imported from Canada

Worked just fine on 03 S. The sticker on the underside of my front boot was so faded, I couldn't make out all the codes. Awesome and thank you OP!
