Boxster with White Top

I have read that a white top on a Boxster is hard to keep clean. Has anyone had experience with this.

Thanks
Clint

No direct experience, but when I bought a BMW Z3 in 1997, it had a black top. The delivery process included explanations of lots of features on the car. Under the hood I noticed the windshield washer fluid was not the typical blue stuff. Was told that was because the blue stuff could stain the tan tops on Z3's so they were all filled with the special stuff on the assembly line. I've seen a lot of convertibles with tan and grey convertible tops that looked pretty stained, but without knowing the owners and how they care for their cars, obviously can't say the tops are hard to maintain.

I don't believe there's ever been one with a white top.

Many years ago my parents had a convertible with a white top. It was a complete pain to keep clean and eventually turned a grayish-brown. There's a reason Porsche did not offer a white top on the Boxster.

My first convertible had a white top and I soon replaced it with black. The white stained easily and would develop gray and black patches as the year progressed. The only thing that would get it clean was a gallon of Power Clean and a stiff brush (on vinyl, not the Haartz cloth). Wasn't worth it in the end.
