hey guys, i finally got a friends car out of my man cave so i was able to move the porsche to it. since it was out in the light i thought I'd get some better pics.

I'm pretty much waiting for the weather to break so i can make my molds. its just to cold to do it yet.

also have a question i was hoping someone could answer. are the 5 speed base manual axle shafts interchangeable with the 6 speed boxster s trans. ? meaning if i swap in the 6 speed will i need to get the axles from the boxster s as well?

thanks

been awhile, in the process of moving... and having a new man cave built so this should get going faster in about a month.

so yesterday i popped the molds for the rear bumper... love it it came out perfect!!!! captured the detail just right. i still have to clean them up and make my parts out of them, then i can attach them to the bumper and get the rear quarter molds made up.

making bumper parts tonight pretty happy with how the molds came out. didnt take much clean up to have them ready to make the parts.

once these pumper parts are made and put on i can finish up the quarter panels and make those parts.... then paint... then engine swap... ya I'll be driving it in about 3 years lol

I'm watching your updates.

BTW: good idea to have a Spiderman with striped socks always protecting you from the background.

well thanks guys... i'm feeling the love

spider man is everywhere around my house... i mean everywhere lol its sometimes hard to have conversations around my house cuz sometimes we call spider man by his secret name instead of "spiderman" and mommy and i get in trouble lolol he is such an awesome little guy. just turned 6 and already thinks he can take on the world. we just had a garage sell and he sat through the whole thing in 90 degree weather with a spidy suit on greeting everyone and making them all laugh with his comments lol

anyway lol nine8six... thank you for that. and i will need some cnc work on some things soon so i'll will take you up on that offer.

smallblock454 thanks, an audience adds to motivation

thank you Bfan. its going to get a lot better. now that we are in our new house(so love the new house) things are going to really start speeding up. as soon as the body is done... the motor starts oh ya its gonna be sick

I'm watching too. Don't get discouraged, threads quickly get pushed to the bottom in the general discussion section.

While I have absolutely no interest in doing anything like this (my 2000 S is bone stock and will stay that way) I'm getting a real thrill reading your progress and am amazed at your vision, artistry, and fabrication skills. I'm looking forward to following this thread through to completion. Keep it up and enjoy your new house.

Im madmods on there with an s instead of Z. That name was taken on here and Ive had it for 20 plus years.
I am having a brain freeze with the car. When I saw the sides I said Koenigsegg.
The front throws me off. Are you on a stretched boxster?

Im currently working on this on a stretched 986. Going to play with a turbo on this one. And please no hate guys, some of us just love building this crazy stuff.

not a replica, its a one off. tube chassis and no donor parts other than control arms. everything is being made custom. i am building two of them one for myself and one for my brother. mine is a 383lt1/boxster s transmission and my brothers is a 5.3 twin turbo/audi 5hp transmission. both will be over 500hp. the 5.3 will be in the 700hp(twin gt35's ) range.

don't turbo your 986.... swap out the 3.8sc out of a gtp like i am $1300 for the adapter kit and will make plenty of power.

so last night... ya i didn't get much done. i got home and couldn't keep my eyes open and took short nap which made my motivation afterwards pretty much not there lol but i did get the passengers side rear bumper started.

so this is about an 1 1/4 lap joint I'm doing for attaching the parts i made. from my limited experience and things I've read.. its the strongest joint and easiest to work with. attaching the parts i make for the quarters.. not sure on those yet.

How are you attaching the rear bumper fiberglass pieces to the old urethane rear bumper?

I hope you are not going for the "seamless" look, because it will not last very long with the fiberglass bonded to the urethane.

Let me put it another way. If it were easy to seamlessly bond and repair urethane bumpers, more people would be doing it.

Thermal expansion rate is also way different between the two.

no debate here. I'm aware of the short life of this bumper. plan on making a complete fiberglass bumper down the road. I have no pole barn in this new house... yet. in a year or so I'll pull the bumper and make a new one when I have more space.
