If the trunk wasn't closed, you would have seen a warning light on the dash (assuming it was working properly). I think the flex of the car could have unlatched it, so +1 on checking the alignment.

Thanks, I have an appointment setup for the 29. If nothing but to get an alignment. It probably needs it anyway.

They really shouldn't put those deer crossing signs where there is traffic. They need to move them so the deer cross under the road! They are just setting the deer up to be hit.
