No Lights

Both my '03 S xenon headlamps are no longer working- they gradually failed to turn on after switching them on. At first they came on after a pause- sometimes a few minutes. Now nothing. My fogs come on. What's the cause- bad control unit(s)? Any other possibilities? My car only has 65000 miles - and I'd guess less than 3k with lights on. Must be an age related failure.

If it's the control units, would both need to be replaced (i.e, is each headlamp controlled by a separate control unit)? OEM replacements are $750/each (Ouch).
Where are they located- is this a DIY job?

Thanks.

Steve

Could likely be the light switch

Do a search for cleaning it.

You can of course replace it, they run around $130

The headlight switch is the only thing that they both have in common. The chances that both headlights would fail simultaneously is slim to none.

As Jay said, clean the switch by spraying contact cleaner into it. Pelican has write up for removing the switch.
If that doesn't help or doesn't last long, you will need to replace the switch.

I had a problem with my headlights being intermittent in April 2014. I cleaned the switch and it has been fine since
