Fall in the Tetons

The wife and I took an evening picnic drive into GTNP Wednesday. Wanted to see some colors (not that many deciduous trees there), but mainly to listen to the Elk bugling. Right at dark, they were amazing. Sounded like an invasion by an alien army!
As you can see by all the other cars , tourist season is (finally!) winding down. It's been a crazy busy summer. I love Fall! Going fishing and duck hunting down at the Green River today. Life's tough .

Fly fishing is white-hot in the fall here. Great mountain scenes here too. I should spend more time there. Great pics.

We came through there in late Oct. 2011 and it was awesome! Few tourists and the wilderness all to ourselves. We really wanted to get a moose photo so staked out the town of Moose for two days... no moose.

We drove up from CO through WY years ago. Spectacular view of mountains rising up from the lake I will never forget.

Wow! Really pretty up there!

With the drought in SoCal we're going thru Fifty Shades of Brown.

Nice moose closeup!

I don't know where they were hiding when we came thru the area. We have seen them at a distance when skiing Utah but we were all prepared for National Geographic quality nature photos of moose in the Tetons and got shut out. Love the area and will certainly travel here in the fall again.

Sorry you didn't see any moose in Moose WY; I never have either. On the other hand, we see them all too often in our backyard eating our raspberry plants and willows in the winter, and garden peas in the summer!

Here is one of our "fall in the Tetons" shots. Gorgeous day!

No moose but we did see tracks from this big guy. It had only stopped snowing for about 1 hr before we took this pic so we knew he was close. See the quarter to the right of the bottom track for scale. We also saw Elk pronghorn, whitetail, bison, wolves, and bighorn sheep on this trip. Beautiful country in fall.

Beautiful pictures! Sounds like you got awfully close to that bear! Are you sure the picture of the yellow leaves on the sidewalk was taken here?

The leaf carpet with my "lovely assistant" in the pic was from Bozeman MT about 1 week earlier during our trip. We started our adventure in MT and finished in Zion UT. A most excellent 10 day road trip adventure.
