Have you started it without the belt?

Water pump. Mine scraped on start up until the belt warmed up
Alternator. Mine made a chatter sound on start up
Pulley / tensioner pulley. Try a drop of oil on each bearing.

Or

Timing chain tensioner. They can be cleaned. Maybe under acceleration it pressurizes enough.

I have never had the belt off on mine, is it a big deal ?

ALso if that were the problem how would you fix it ?

Mostly pretty sedate, as she's my daily driver. But once or twice a week we play on the twisty country roads near here. Rolling hills, forest, vineyards.. We spend a lot of time in 2nd and 3rd, around 5k rpm.

I've owned my 97 boxster base for about 3 weeks and the longer I own it the harder I drive it
The open roads of Montana beg this car to flat out run

Two Ways

For me it's a two part answer. I never dump the clutch or see how fast I can go from zero to 60. The clutch is small and too much trouble and cost to replace. However, once rolling and heading into the curves I push her hard. In my opinion, that's what the Boxster is all about. :)
