2001 S engine into 2000 S and no coolant temp

We put a 40K mile S engine and transmission into our 103K mile 2000 with blown engine and now do not have any coolant temperature indicating on instrument cluster.

Any suggestions????

For the pupose of this topic the 2000 & 20001 engines are identical, so there was a error somewhere in the R&R process. Did you try swapping the original temp sensor onto the replacement engine? Also need to ensure coolant is at proper level & no air pockets in cooling system by bleeding air out. I would guess the latter is most likely cause. Search forum for proper bleed procedure.
