I think the Boxster price is already too high given the options you need to buy to equip it properly.
Porsche tests us again!

a very good point - essentially one is paying for the name or prestige of ownership, which could easily carry less value as other contenders in the market produce equally nimble and quick cabriolet's that not only hold their value well, but don't damage the pocketbook on both the front end and through-out ownership. might be one thing if every year Porsche only released a couple thousand Boxster's - but aren't they sending like a billion of them along with a gajillion cayman's?

perhaps porsche believes that commonality dilutes the namesake....maybe they're raising the price to limit production to some maximum rate they are willing / able to produce.

I think you're right in that Porsche is intentionally ************************ with us...
Screwing around with the model lineup, while teasing us with ethiopian sized horsepower increments that still add up on the wrong side of 300, just to see how much Americans are willing to pay for their products.

there is one thing that is not in their control and that's reliability.
The boxster by p-car standards has been like an s2000 or Miata.
If that dependability goes out the window with their new tinkering, well then that Americans won't put up with!
Sure we'll pay you $10 for that $5 dollar bill,
BUT DON"T MAKE ME WAIT IN A DEALER SERVICE OFFICE!
if I wanted that crap I would have bought a Merc!

My neighbors 2004 Boxster with 20, 059 miles just lost an engine. Oil all over the place, clunk, bang, then silence.
I was just on the phone trying to console her.
Man, that just blows! Is Porsche listening?

Yep, there is THAT! Well, maybe they'll bring the Cayman S prices down to match the Boxster S then.

ALL PORSCHES ARE OVER PRICED.
They wouldn't be the most profitable car company in the world if they weren't.
How long can this over pricing continue?
That's what I'd like to know.

This IS an interesting question. It is VERY hard for any company to maintain outsized margins. In the face of the intensely competitive car business, I see this margin as a very attractive target for other companies.
Face it, there are not too many bad cars being made anymore.

No, but there is a lot of ugly cars being made. Monte Carlo for starters.
