Opinions wanted. Maybe. ;)

So I got my Dyno wheels back from the wheel shop today and they match my center caps and mirror covers. They'll go on my black aero kit '99 that is primarily my DE car, although it gets a fair amount of street time.

Next will be stripes and logos.

I'm trying for this GT3 look (not GT3 logo) or maybe go with wider Porsche Gulf stripes.

I know there will be a few haters, which is fine, but give me some opinions and/or ideas. Thanks! Rick

If I go big, I'd wrap the front and rear bumper covers and side skirts. Center stripe down hood, roof and deck lid. DE numbers on doors and hood. Kinda like the Boxster model below w/o the Gulf logos.

I'm sure it will add at least 15 hp to the car, make me a better driver and move me up one run group.

Oh my..I am a fan of loud colors and standing out, but isn't that a bit of a rim 'downgrade'? Thats probably the most unacceptable part of this post -_-

The Dyno wheel was a factory option wheel for the Boxster in the late '90s. I know they're not everyone's cup o' tea, but I kinda like them. I dropped off the 18" wheels shown on the car today, and they will also be done in orange. I want to run 17" wheels on the track, so the Dyno wheels get the line up.

I actually like the look of that GT3 and think it will translate very well to the Boxster. I give it a thumbs up.

Anything goes with black and this orange is certainly no exception, I give it a thumbs up. However I think the top stripe, nose and tail might be a little over the top. I think the RS stripe would look very good without being excessive.

I like the GT3 look. Since your car is already black, that would be the way to go. For a DE car, it will look great

Wow that's tough.
I'm more of a stock guy, but can appreciate a well done custom.
It really looks great as it is, and yet I love both the GT3 and Gulf looks. If push comes to shove, I'd have to say the GT3 look would compliment that car better. The smaller body of the Boxster can become easily overpowered and cluttered with a wilder, busier paint scheme. The orange accents on the black car will give it punch and menace without being too much.
Just don't drive it through Norman (you know what I mean... )
Whatever you choose I'm anxious to see the outcome.

Lots of great inputs. My only concern with the GT3 stripe is how it will look with the side skirts below the stripe. Retro man - you are correct - it can get real busy In a hurry, and I know you have an eye for composition. PW - good inputs on the air intakes. I haven't given them a lot of thought, but they'll need something.

Since the car will mostly be a track car, I tend to lean towards more amounts of orange, but I know it can get clownish if I over do it.

It's been in the planning stage since last fall when I bought the car in Arizona. The black console from your wrecked 996 I bought will be painted the same orange along with the door pull handles. I want just a bit of orange in the black interior as well.

I like it!

Stock 986's are somewhat boring with the multitude of huge, mostly flat-ish, mono-color body panels. Sure, today's new cars have gone too far in the other direction with 46 inlets, 32 outlets, and flying buttress's, but is a single crease at the belt line or something similar too much to ask for?
