Ebay drilled/slotted rotors & ceramic pad kit

I think I have seen that these ebay kits are pretty good for standard driving (non-track use), and produce much less brake dust than stock.

Now that I have convinced shehadehd to buy the kit/its waiting for me to put on his car, is it actually any good?

WillH 07-22-2015 01:34 PM

In the process of installing a kit now. Everything seems hunky-dory. 272$ CDN. Delivered tax customs included. Time will tell if they are any good.

Cool, I am verrrry interested in brake dust reduction. And the superficial look of holes and slots ;)

I have some ebay drilled rotors and ceramic pads. The brake dust is almost zero and the brakes work great. I'm sure you will be happy with them.

Can someone link to the kit you guys are talking about?

Not necessarily this exact kit, but an example: Porsche Boxster 97 04 Brake Rotors Ceramic Pads Front Rear | eBay

Not for S models though, interesting?

There are kits for boxster S, but this is not one of them. The S model has slightly larger rotors.

Are these kits to be trusted, quality wise?

Brake Rotors Front Rear Kit Eline "Cross Drilled" Ceramic Pads RC40001 | eBay

I went with this set. I payed a little less buying the front and rear separately. Like I said the dust is near zero. I can stop as well or better than with stock rotors and textar pads. They are zinc coated and after four months still look like new. Time will tell how long they last. But for the cost i'd be willing to replace every few years. The look great on the car as well.

I put these on the other day, but I bought some titanium pads (Disc Italia Titanium Kevlar) for $150ish. They look good and seem to work well. Very low dust. I haven't even had a chance to bed them yet, but for the price I paid for the rotors, if they screw up, I'm not out too much.

I think we should make a buyers guide for this kind of stuff, I just did my brakes and wish I would have known about these kits. I think Ill get started on a guide; brake kits, motor mounts, suspension, UDP, rear speaker kits, headlight mods, custom windscreen ...lots of stuff

If you start a global excel or something, I vow to at least update it for the next few months as I buy/find new parts. Can we even store a universal file for community updates anywhere?

DMage 07-24-2015 11:46 AM

Google drive is pretty good for that

epapp 07-24-2015 12:04 PM

Agreed. However, we need a sticky with a global data sheet any new or old forum member can hit

So far so good, better bite than stock. Quieter than what was on it before,( stock disks, brembo oe pads on front, Textar back).:)

jdlmodelt 07-26-2015 05:37 PM

I put these on my 99 over a year ago and they have performed great. No brake dust. just road dust.
