I bought a replacement top from eBay. German cloth with plastic window. Came in around $400 if my memory serves me right. I replaced it myself using the 101 projects book and it took me about a total of 16 hours spread out over a few days. It was fun and I would do it again now that I've seen what's involved.

Now that I've done it I think I can do it in about 12 hours. If you are really good and really know what you are doing, I would think maybe one can do this in about 8 hours.

I should have checked my 101 Projects for Your Boxster book. They have it as 16 hours.
It took about four hours just to replace the plastic window when I had it done ($400). I do not recommend this, just replace the top. Those old bits do not like to be removed and put back on. Replacing my Miata top took about 6 hours if I recall but wasn't done very well. I thought someone more experienced would have done it faster and better.

Here are some bonus pics Pelican posted.Pelican Parts Photos - 101 Projects for your Porsche Boxster: Project 70 - Convertible New Top

I guess any repair charging $600 or less on labor is a good deal.

Did the top come with new seals for the rear? Mine are toast. They keep coming loose.

No I had to reuse my seals but they were in good shape.

The 3M automotive double stick tape mentioned in the pelican book should help those seals stay in, at least the really thick weather seal along the back.
