As I said before, I am very new to this. The acronyms (PPI, etc) are totally new to me, and I don't know what it means. This is going to be a learning curve. Hopefully not steep.
PPI = pre-purchase inspection. It is always a good idea to have a good and trusted Porsche mechanic look the car over. These cars can be very expensive to maintain, so unless you have oodles of cash laying around, this can save you a lot of money.
If you didn't get the PPI before buying, get one now. A good PPI by a qualified and trusted mechanic will give you a good list of projects to work on.

As to the fog light - I'm pretty sure every Boxster has a rear 'fog light'. Google it up - but it only has the one I believe.

AHA!!! Actually, the dealer I bought it from gave it to me. He had it requested by a previous tentative customer and the local Porsche dealer. did it two weeks before I bought it. Minor stuff noted, no fault codes.
Re: Lights. I swapped out the ballasts on the headlamps. Same problem.
I swapped out the main bulb and voila (that's German, isn't it?), both headlamps and high beams work. Must have been a bad contact. One small bulb, the the right side marker is out, and one small bulb inside the right headlamp is now out. Both will be checked out, but for now I'm thrilled that I didn't break anything!. Once you get the hang of it, removal and reinstallation is very straight forward. The units must have been taken out many times before, though. They show abuse. But hey, as long as they work, I'll be happy. In fact, right now (and it may not last), I'm so happy I must be two people because one person couldn't be this happy.
Thanks again, to all of you who commented.
