986 key won't go into ignition barrel...

Just done an oil change with the car parked outside with the top down. Rain due this afternoon - aargh!

I can lock and unlock the car from the remote but I can't get the key in the ignition. Tried wiggling it..

Could it be an electrical fault with the electrical part of the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column once again? I've changed that part once before (a couple of years ago) when I had the key stuck in issue, but I've not had this fault before and there were no warning symptoms leading up to it..

Any other quick fixes? Could I disconnect the battery and leave it 10mins and reconnect?

Will now search for tips on getting that top up whilst stuck in this condition....

Drama averted. Disconnecting the battery didn't seem to help but pulling the purple connector off the back of the ignition switch and then replacing it has done the trick for now...
