Considering the S's top speed was rated for 270 I'm sure it will get close.
I ran it to 260 (on the speedo) once as well, but you also have to remember that most of the speedo's are showing 5% minimum more than what you're actually doing. So at 260km/h your true speed might actually be only 247km/h or even a little less. True readings through a stationary radar device would be much more accurate :-) hopefully not one attached to a police car... LOL
My 328xi showed 94km/h on the GPS when the speedo showed 100km/h
The 986s shows 96 on the GPS when the speedo says 100
and my A3 shows 93km/h when the speedo says 100

...well, most Autobahn segments without a speed limit (which is more the exception than normality) are long enough to reach top speeds. Pedal to the metal and max speed in two minutes .....not too much Autobahn needed for that

Enough highway and Heiko is right. If you check against GPS you will find that the speedometer is optimistic. Legislation rules, that it is not allowed to indicate too slow!

Any mods? That's still impressive. It would take a very long stretch for me to hit that speed. With just a slight incline on the highway my car was holding steady at 149MPH, I was saying come on, come on, 150, 150! Once I got over that incline she hit the 151MPH mark and that was when I let off and took my exit.

Not as fast as I have driven my new MINI Cooper S or my new Mustang GT!

Trust me, I could make the average person wet their pants going through the twisties. Do you not have any straightaways where you drive?

Factory spec for a Boxster S is 260 km/h = 161.5 mph. That's more or less the speed I reach if you compensate the speedo error. With top down I can make 255 km/h as there is significant more drag. But the car is made for twisty roads. Top speed doesn't really matter.

No doubt. Do you consider it a good thing to have average people peeing in your car?

Haha, no. That's why I do it alone. I do have one buddy though that has a BMW and flies a Learjet for a living that will ride with me for the joy.
Speaking of BMW. I was a little bored yesterday, 73°F out, so I dropped the top and went for a ride. I ran across a white BMW with 2 red stripes running over it, in my favorite twisties and he couldn't keep up with me.
I love this car. It doesn't have the big HP numbers or as quick as my previous cars, but it's a whole different feeling driving this car.
Although I'm working on the HP and quickness.

Given I have other toys that go way faster I have only pushed the Box to about 125mph. Frankly it was okay as I have a 220mph run under my belt on my Busa and while its a rush, unless your on a track the juice is just not worth the squeeze for pushing the limits.
I have found that a tight twisty road run at 70 to 80 in the box is a real kick in the shorts. I spent so much in rebuilding that I want to enjoy the car for what it is capable of doing rather than the ultimate of what it can do.

Looks like fun. I need to get better wheels and tires. Right now 225 front and 255 rear isn't cutting it, neither are my brakes. Have exhaust mods to do and get the car tuned. Been looking at ways to reduce weight too.

30 mph in two different vehicles.
Trek 7.2 - I'm 300 pounds. That is pretty fast for that much weight.
M88A1 - Also pretty fast, but I wasn't the weight factor for that one.
That's me out in Twenty-Nine Palms. Good times.
