jeff - i believe that the 06 does not require the key activated device to turn off the airbag - the sensor in the seat is weight-activated. i also thought that the seats were equipped with Latch - i'm pretty sure my 05 has the latch system already in it - so should yours. in leiu of latch - you can still anchor the seat with the seat belt - just make sure it locks so there is minimal play in the seat. i usually use my 6 year olds booster seat - so the the seatbelt straps thru just like you or I would wear our seat belt. i even use it when my 2 1/2 yr old rides in the car.

good question about front seat passengers. the main concern is the airbag. young kids are always safer in the rear seat, but with a properly equipped child seat and the airbag off - your kids are fine. as a doctor, i wouldn't put my kids in the boxster if i didn't feel completely safe! (actually my wife is a billion times spazzier than me -but then again, she actually teaches parents how to safely and properly install their car seats)

we actually almost got a honda s2000 and decided against it cuz you can't deactivate the passenger airbag - so, no fun at all for the kids.

your two yr old will have a ball! of course, you'll have to get used to him wanting to touch everything and constantly asking, what's this?????
