I exchanged a few emails with the seller. It does have a clean title. He thought since the car is not drivable, it would be called salvage.

Help me out, what's a "roller"? A car with a blown engine?

" it was professional repaired, however the car was left in the shop for over 18 months and suffered overspray, there are tons of money and parts was put in to repair the car"
But they must have just run out of money before purchasing a gas door and radiator grilles. Guess all their ca$h went into the quality paint job.
Enjoy a good chuckle:

It looks like they used nail polish instead of paint. File under POS.

The quality of the paint job is only exceeded by the quality of the guy's grammar.
Also: "involved in an minor accident" & "salvage rebuilt title"

Yeah, that part of the story doesn't add up. He says he paid $19K for it, had a "minor" accident, and somewhere along the line the title became salvage. Fishy, fishy. Either he overpaid for an 05 base with a salvage title or he had more than a minor accident.
But the 60K engine would be almost worth the asking price. 50-50 chance it has a replaceable IMS.

Interested to see what this sells for. $22.5K USD seems pretty aggressive.

Agreed. Maybe on BAT if it’s low miles with all records in great condition. Across the last year I’ve seen SE prices anywhere from 12,500 to 29,000 asking. The listings go away so it seems they are selling. Not planning on parting with mine in any case. Mine’s in great shape but it’s a driver. In fact I’m gearing up for some HPDE in the upcoming season.

The 2004 Boxster 550 Special Edition in summary:
- 264 hp, 7 more than the Boxster S (largely due to ECU reprogramming)
- 987 airbox
- shorter-throw manual shifter
- unique stainless steel exhaust tip
- 10-mm-lower suspension (M030) with five-mm-wider track (via factory spacers)
- Xenon headlights
- full leather interior (in Cocoa or Dark Gray with matching convertible top)
- sports seats
- black face instruments with chrome trim rings
- aluminum finish brake calipers
- GT Metallic Silver exterior with matching interior trim
- 18” Carrera Light wheels painted in two tone Seal Gray and Arctic Silver
- SE 'red' tailights
- only 500 of the 1,953 total worldwide production were exported to the US for sale
Asking prices are running around 12,000 to 29,000 USD right now. There are currently three or four for sale on Craiglist.
The SE has dedicated Porsche issued product literature, posters, etc. and it was the last year for 986 production. Typical move for Porsche to issue an SE edition at the end of a model run.

I understand all that. What I was asking is how Ottomotion knew from the picture of that car in Florida that it was a 550 Spyder. What gave it away? What was the telltale sign?

Taking a quick glance at the Florida ad:
- the two tone Seal Gray/Arctic Silver Carrera Light wheels
- the aluminum finished brake calipers
- the GT Metallic Silver interior trim pieces
- the black gauge faces with chrome trim rings
- the plaque on the center console batwing
- the unique exhaust tip
Not applicable for this Florida ad (because it is one of the dark gray ones), a Cocoa interior color with matching convertible top

Least expensive running (I assume) 550 SE I’ve run across.
169,000+ miles anyone?
