That CL ad is showing up everywhere. Titles are random...last local one I saw as for a set of tires. I flag them all the time, not that it'll help.

You're probably right. Unless some collector wants a brand-new 1999 car for his stable.

Interesting that it says it was built from a 2001 S, but seems to me to be a base model. I'd like to see the VIN.

Imagine buying a 2020 boxster for $80,000

Driving it for 2,200 miles and keeping it as a garage queen. Then decided to cash in on your precious car in 2040 and selling it for $30,000

Nothing about the idea seems smart to me lol. If I buy a car I’m driving it. If I buy for investment purposes it would be more of limited production vehicle...... but that’s just me and my money hahhahaha

Not to mention, it's being sold by a dealer who probably has no service records or knowledge of the car's history, other than what's on CarFax. Was the car driven regularly? Even 20 miles a month? Or did it sit for 10 years in one stretch?

I wouldn't touch this car, let alone pay what you could buy a nice 987 for.

Agreed. With you and GTA. That's why I called it a shame, and knew GTA was being sarcastic when he called it a 'steal.'

I wouldn't touch it either.

They failed to mention that Carfax says it was in an accident.

Typical sleazy car dealers.

Same sleazy people who call these things "Options":

6-Cyl, 2.5 Liter
Manual, 5-Spd
RWD
ABS (4-Wheel)
Air Conditioning
Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Power Steering
Telescoping Wheel
AM/FM Stereo
Cassette
Dual Air Bags
Side Air Bags
Dual Power Seats
Rear Spoiler
Alloy Wheels

I'm curious, if you didn't get the RWD "option" what else was available to you?

There was a little-known model for certain markets only that came standard with FPS, the "Feuerstein Propulsion System"

Looks like an excellent example of an early 986. Silver is such a blegh color to me. Who in their right mind would order a 2-seat convertible Porsche sports car in SILVER. My grandma might like it though! I'm sure this will offend someone around here...

It's nice if you want a '97. For only a few thousand more you can get a nice '03/'04 S.

Shelton is pretty local to me. If anyone needs eyes on the car, I can probably find some time to go look for you.

Using 'gay' in a pejorative sense is not 'joking'. It's simply not funny anymore. And certainly was never funny to many.

Who says I was using it as a pejorative? That may be your perception. Are you implying that calling someone gay is an insult? I could have very well meant it as a complement, but you think it's an insult. So maybe you're the one that's actually stuck in the 50's? ;)

Seriously people need to lighten up.

A little irony, at least to me...

This is being 'debated' on a Porsche forum whereas the phrase/quote originated from one of the most notable and largest (private) collectors of Porsches.

Incidentally, for those who don't know, he also featured an image of at least one Porsche in each episode (along w/ Superman).

Carry on...

Nice! I heard about Superman, not the Porsche images.

I'm glad you recognized the reference and thanks for pointing out the irony!

They're like all over the refrigerator along with a Skip Barber poster (or magnet). In some of the latter episodes he has the boxster prototype up there. ;)
