Towing the Box to NC for vacation

I'm thinking of using my 2010 F150 with a towing package to trailer my boxster on vacation to the Smoky Mountains. Our rented cabin is just 20 minutes from the Tail of the Dragon.

My question is about trailers. From the looks of it, I will pay $55 a day to rent a trailer from UHaul. Ten day vacation, $550 plus tax.

Should I be thinking about purchasing a used car trailer?

Seems like a lot of cash to throw away on a rental.

I guess I could always drop it off somewhere relatively close to our cabin and re-rent it for a one way trip home when we leave, but that could be dicey if they don't hold it or one just like it for me.

Our cabin is out in the sticks and 30+ minutes away from gas stations and grocery stores.

Thoughts?
