Racing seat and airbag light - options?
I've got a 2000 Boxster S with non heated seats with a power recline, but manual slider and height adjustment, and no airbags in the bolsters (at least I am pretty sure not).
I know if I take the seat out, to disconnect the battery first before removing the seat electronic connector, and reconnect the connector before reconnecting the battery. I have the durametric and can reset the airbag light which I did a while back when I drove for a while without my passenger seat. It looks like part of that plug is the seatbelt sensor, and part of that plug goes to the power recline. I saw this guide on rennlist that shows how to remove just the seatbelt portion of the plug and reconnect it to the seatbelt receptacle mounted to the new seat: Rennlist Member Gallery :: DIY GT3 Seats Install Is that all there is to it to have a racing seat with no airbag light? Does the 986 Boxster have weight sensors in the seat that are integrated with the airbag computer? I think maybe on the newer models it may but not mine? Thanks Steve |
That's it. Just mark the grey plug for the seatbelt sensor so it is always in the correct orientation. No weight sensor in your 986.
