Velcro pad sticking up from soft top - what is this?

Hey All,

I just noticed that there is a little velcro tab sticking up on the driver's side of my soft top above the driver's side window, as seen in the pictures below. I don't know how long this has been there, but do know that I didn't notice it until a day after I put the top down for the first time in months on a day when it was about 45F outside.

Any thoughts as to what this may be, and what I should do about it, if anything? I checked the tension cables by putting the top down until it was only ~8" from the top of the windshield and then looking into the recess for the soft top; they seemed to be connected as normal, so I'm a bit stumped as to what this part is. Thanks for your input!

There is a hinge on the frame rail at that point under the top fabric. It wraps around the frame. You should see how it goes if you look at the passenger side. Good luck.

It adjusts the lateral position of the bead so it seats in the plastic side frame when you close the top. If the bead seats right, then lower the top partway and shove the tab in, because it's not needed. If the bead goes outside the frame, use the velcro to pull the canvas in a little. If it will stick (which most won't, after 10+ years).

I had the same thing on my top. I lowered the top part way and cut it off

Cut it off too. Never would stay in after repositioning it, and my top always shut just fine with it flopping around. No problems here.
