Boxster Spyder Roof Skin Paranoiahttp://www.986forum.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gi

I've noticed that whenever I put on my favorite pair of jeans that within an hour (and 2 beers and a steak dinner) they don't fit quite as well. So I started to contemplate the likelihood of my 2011 Spyder's "roof" (that's a stretch, ha-ha) losing its "tautness" (like my jeans) from being continually tight. Then I thought about the cost of a new non-stretched out roof for a car with such a limited production number and THEN I got nervous. So I'm wondering if any of you think my de-taughting strategy here would actually be worthy of making a standard storage procedure. I've just made a "T" with a bit of wood and applied some padding which keeps the lid up and loosens the load on the canvas? Yes I could loose a few pounds so no smart remarks!! :-))

IMO, best to keep it taught, not loose. The fabric could shrink or even distort slightly if kept slack, causing something to stretch and tear when pulled taught again...?
I'm no expert; just my opinion.

It would be interesting to hear from other Spyder owners about their expeirence now that these cars are a few years old.

Having said that the regular Boxster top is keep taught and stretching does not seem to be a problem. The original top I had was fine after 12 years. I have not feed my Boxster a steak and a few beers yet so maybe I'm wrong.
