Yellow lights

I just got a great deal on a Boxster, but the car comes with a few minor cosmetic issues I will or won't be fixing.

One that I'd like to fix if possible are the yellowing headlamps. It would appear that most of the wear has happened inside the headlamp, not the outside. Under the plastic lens I can see what appears to be dust and other contaminants, and the plastic turning that lovely shade of yellow.

Other than replacing the headlamps for more money than the car deserves, any suggestions?

Take a minute to look at this thread: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/54697-advice-used-litronics.html

I received many useful suggestions on rehabbing my used litronic headlights. The thread includes links to Youtube videos on opening the headlights and polishing them.

I think you should be able to adapt the advice to your needs and have a nice set of headlights at the end of your project.

Good luck.

Don't think he is referring to the litronic? Possibly a set of halogen with the common outer reflector burns.

Op - member Particlewave often get those spare outer lenses - if one day you feel they need working. Shoot him a quick pm and I'm sure he'll let you know when avail. Charles, his name

Have fun with your new toy

Best way to go, IMHO:

I installed them myself and it didn't cost me more than around $400 of our Canadian pesos.

As an aside to those of you on the fence, cleaning up the looks of the front end of your Porsche makes a night and day difference. A pic of my 993 with a refurbished Fog Light installed (I had already cleaned the headlight in and out along with clear side markers) on the right / driver's side vs. the untouched left.......
