how about some more ideas for an outlaw Boxster a la Magnus.
paint schemes (quick photoshoped to show that the Boxster has some lovely curves, which need specific attention to be improved rather than destroyed ;)) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1415393865.jpg Louvered Fenders (stola had an interesting and obvious approach) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1415393891.jpg |
here's a thread I often turn to for inspiration - the silver car with orange stripes really does it for me, and I think it would work on a boxster ...

Those deviating colors only really work on rally cars. So you'd need the race number, sponsor decals, a set of cibbies, etc.
And really all that original 911 stuff doesn't even really work on current 911's like the duck tail, fuchs, etc. The proportions are just so different now between an old coupe and big grand touring. |

a good design will always work...on anything ;) Lets see ...original air cooled 911 design ... duck tail, Fuchsfelge, rally stripes  http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1415409221.jpg |
well, here's a photoshop challenge for those with more skills than I ...
an arctic silver boxster with zeintop: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1415499585.jpg a silver long-nose 911: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1415499609.jpg possible to duplicate the 911 paint scheme onto the boxster? the boxster has similar trim lines on the bumper and rockers so the lower orange should transfer, as should the big fat stripes on the hood. some magnetic numbers for when at the track, and perhaps some stickers from all the go-fast goodies you bolted on ... |
I think the Boxster is very adaptable to different paint schemes.
Check some of the different Spec Boxster track cars. They look pretty sharp! |

wow... morning coffee (imported), digital imaging, and Porsche cars..... How much better my day could start. Thx for the challenge! (leaving the stickers to you, & read up subliminal sky note to you, TRK) |
I'm speechless man, thanks SO much. I think that is my future paint scheme.

I went sorta outlaw for a while on my '99 with a throwback PORSCHE stripe from the 914, early 911 era and black on red tail lights with black center caps on the wheels. After the Box was repainted I stuck with a more subtle look and didn't reinstall the strip and replaced the tail lights with the 550 Spyder lights.

just found this:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/1022245-clr-intro.html interesting for the paint, but also for the lightweight stuff. his custom suspension seems a bit lacking; he put extended forks on his topspeed thrust arms to address caster change from his extended LCAs (could have been accomplished with some adjustable thrust arm bushings) and he made the business end of some SPC LCAs a bit longer (i guess he didn't want to adjust them out to their limit). |
I like it on the 911 with the number. Just paint it red and if you don't like it, paint it A Silver again.

Sorry if other like the paint scheme but it looks like he replaced damage frt/rear bumpers from a red donor car.
I go round and round on whether to add some splash of color to my completely plain, one color car. The boxster has such subtle lines and feature (Except the glaringly large head lights) that (MHO) any color splashes would have to be subtle as well. |
I tried the red stripe thing and thought it was okay. I ended up removing and really prefer the simplicity of the curves now. If you go with color, be prepared for every kid racer out there.
It's your car, do whatever you want. I wowed at the silver with Zeintop before I even read you wanted color added. If that is your car, I would do nothing. It's gorgeous. |
