Winter Oil Change
It's supposed to be fall here in Oklahoma, even though it's still 90 degrees outside. Anyways, just changed the oil as it was due at 137,000. Good news, no shiny stuff in the old oil. Winter is coming, so we put in Mobil 1 0W-40 European Car Formula. Was wondering if anyone has used this oil in their 986.

5W-40 year-round, even here in Wyoming. I don't drive the Boxster when it gets really cold (-20° F).

Just did my 6 month change (Mobile 1 0w 40w) this weekend
Went about 1000 over my usual 6000 mile change
I know there is better but has to be online ordered so my theory is since M1 is so accessable I'll change more often

I use DRIVEN DT40 (aka JOE GIBBS) 5w-40.
Can literally feel the difference.

I have primarily used Mobil 1 0W-40, but have used 10W-40 once or twice. (Including in the snow, very rarely lower than 0° F)
Once I use up the Mobil 1 0W-40 I already have I plan to switch to Castrol 10W-40.

It's only the first on the list of Porsche-recommended oil ... to use year around.

I just changed my oil and used the Castrol Edge 0w-40. Been a couple of days and it still hasn't blown up. The jug says it's made in Germany. I used an STP oil filter that was also made in Germany. My car was made in Finland, hope I didn't screw the whole thing up.

Mobil 5W50 April through October. Porsche approved. Winter hibernation November through March. Redline 5W40 and Joe Gibbs DT 40 5W40 are also good oils. I don't like Mobil 0W40. 5,000 mile intervals. OE Porsche filters. Blackstone UOA's.

I run straight Slick 50 with split-fire plugs.
I believe the hype.
